finding yourself

So many people lose their identity when they are in a relationship.  They turn into a different version of themselves because of the strong bond they have with their loved one.  This is not always bad, but when a relationship ends you have to "find yourself" again.  I know from first hand how awkward of an experience this transition can be.

Especially when everything reminds you of them and when you hear a certain song on the radio you feel as if you were just punched in the stomach.  The thought of dating again, or having that awkward first kiss with someone else, and having to meet the family just makes you want to puke. None of this is ever fun.

When a break up happens, we can't help but remember all the special/great/romantic/perfect memories and good times, but we forget about the bad times.  Going through a break up can be good, it tells you that you really are human, and you do have real feelings.  It gives you a chance to be selfish, eliminate the negative influences from your life and be true to yourself.  After a long time of off and on relationships, never knowing what the hell is going on in my life, and realizing that if you try to plan something God will laugh at you and throw you are curve ball these things definitely do help to pass the time..

1. Take long bubble baths.
2.  Buy a gym membership and let the hot muscle men check you out in your yoga pants.
3.  Find a good bottle of wine, and stock up. (You get 10% off at Safeway if you buy 6)
4.  Plan a girl's night at least once a week.
5.  Find things you can be in control of, like your room.  Keep it clean and organized and then stand back and look at all the hard work you've done.
6. Plan a vacation with great friends/family.
7.  Listen to "A little bit stronger" by Sarah Evans.
8.  Let someone new be nice to you and maybe even take you on a date.
9. Stay away from movies involving romance.  I would suggest anything like The Hang Over, Jackass, Step Brothers or Super Bad.  You will get a couple good laughs.
10. When you are having a hard time find a picture that always makes you smile or laugh, or both. Like this.

I bet you laughed.
You're welcome.

Remember:  if great things in life came easy, they wouldn't ever be worth it.
